- Through the Development Sector I which is under the Industrial Policy and Sectoral Development Division perform the duties and provide services related to the industries like processed food production, packaging material production, spices related production, value added tea production and value added coir production which are registered under the Ministry.
- Issuance of Visa recommendations to obtain service from the foreign workers.
- Issuance of Testimonial letters (TS) for the importation of raw materials which are temporarily banned.
- Issuance of recommendations for Temporary Importation for Export Processing (TIEP) program.(Importation and completion program)
- Issuance of recommendation letters for importations with Duty Concession.
- Issuance of recommendation letters for importation with Duty Exemption.
- Issuance of permits to obtain service facilities required to carry out industrial productions during the period of travel restrictions.
In addition, this sector is responsible for the implementation of the development projects for the year 2021 in relation to the development sector I.

Through the Development Sector II, which is under the Industry and Industrial Estates Development Division, perform the duties and services related to the industries like production of rubber and plastic products, automobile assembling and components manufacturing, electrical and electronic manufacturing, boat building, wood and wood based industry, ceramic, porcelain, tile and granite production, which are registered under the ministry.
- Issuance of Visa recommendations to obtain service from the foreign workers.
- Issuance of Recommendation letters for the importation of raw materials which are temporarily suspended. (TS)
- Issuance of recommendation letters for importations with Duty Exemption & Duty Concession.
- Issuance of recommendation letters for importation with Duty Exemption.
- In addition by establishing Advisory Committees for those industries in order to provide suitable solutions for the matters faced by the industrialists .

- Coordinating other meetings held in the Parliament premisesThe Development Divisions 3 under the Industrial Policy and Sectoral Development Division perform the duties related to the Metal Products, , Cosmetic Products, Pharmaceutical Products,Leather Products and Footwear Manufacturing sectors registered with the Ministry. As well the following services are provided.
- Giving recommendations for export of scrap metal
- Issuing visa recommendations to obtain the services of foreign workers
- Issuing letters of recommendation for the importation of raw materials which are temporarily prohibited to import (TS)
- Recommendation for Temporary Importation for Export Processing (TIEP)
- Issuing letters of recommendation for duty concessions and duty exemptions according to the provisions of Revenue Protection Order
- Issuing letters of recommendation for duty concessions and duty exemptions according to the provisions of Revenue Protection Order
- Carrying out development projects in about sub sectors
- Granting permits to industries to carry out their duties properly during the travel restrictions.
- In addition, this division conducts the administrative activities of the Ceylon Industrial Development Board and the implementation of development projects carried out in collaboration with the Industrial Development Board.

This Division, is managed by the Director ( Information Technology) under the direction of the Additional Secretary (Sectoral Development) to fulfil the IT requirements of the Ministry as provided below.
- Maintenance and Development of Information Technology Infrastructure of the Ministry
- Maintenance of the Ministry Website
- Development and maintenance of selected process management information systems in order to perform the functions relevant to the scope of the Ministry more effectively and to provide optimal service to the clients.
- Carry out all activities related to official e-mail addresses
- Providing IT solutions as required by the Ministry
- Carrying out media coverage of various programs, events, meetings etc. organized by the Ministry and all the institutions affiliated to the Ministry and preparing news reports and sending them to all media institutions.
- Monitoring of news published in newspapers, television, radio and websites.
- Observe the newspaper reports of the Ministry published in the newspapers and send copies to the Secretary and the relevant sections.
- Organizing press conferences.
- Coordinating with all media institutions.
- Conducting media coverages of the Hon Minister and State Ministers as per the requests made by the Media Secretaries.
- Maintain a database of captured photographs, videos, news releases and newspaper reports.
- Carrying out media coordination activities of all the institutions affiliated to the Ministry.
- Informing the relevant sections about the false news published in the media about the Ministry and all the institutions affiliated to the Ministry and taking necessary action to correct those news.
- Maintaining the Facebook account of the Ministry
