Commercialization of Inventions and Innovations on Product and Process Development in the Plastic, Rubber and fibre-based Industries
Commercialization of Inventions and Innovations on Product and Process Development in the Plastic, Rubber and fibre-based Industries
There are two aspects to be discussed on the failure of introducing innovative products into the Sri Lankan export basket and diversifying its economy.
- One is the majority of inventions are not fostered by putting a commercial value, instead, the creations end up in journals and laboratories.
- The second one is the requirements and expectations in respect of market readiness and demand are not clearly expressed to researchers/innovators
Therefore, there is a need to set a path for higher education research findings to reach the potential industrialists to make successful commercialization by eradicating the communicational gap.
By understanding the vital importance of setting up a network between the researchers and the industrialist of the country, as an apex authority for industrial promotion within the country, the Ministry of Industries has started a project of “A Path for Commercializing the Research Findings and Innovation “. And our second program under the project “Plastic, Rubber and Fiber-based Product and Process Development Research Selection and Networking Forum-2023” is going to be held on June second week.
